“The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questions.” Maya Angelou

National Organising Week, or NOW for short, is an annual event by APDO in the UK. This year’s NOW will take place between November 6th and November 12th under the banner of Making Your Place Your Happy Space.

This year, the NOW campaign is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and drive the conversation around the theme of making your place a happy space where you love spending time. Your home should be a haven to recharge your batteries from work or the outside world. It should be a space that inspires happiness and calm and fosters mental well-being.

As part of NOW, I want to inspire my readers and clients to declutter their homes and lives to improve their mental health and well-being. I also want to share simple, valuable, and practical advice on organising your homes and lives that can support you in leading a calmer, less stressful existence.

You can create a tranquil, stress-free home with simple habits and routines. Some of which I will share with you over the next week on Social Media and my blog. Watch this space!

Over the last few years, our world and how we do things have changed dramatically. We are increasingly finding that homes are bombarded with consumerism that negatively impacts how we feel and behave.

Social Media, the Internet and our mobile phones  – love it or loathe it- significantly impact our mental well-being and are increasingly creeping into every sphere of our homes and lives.

Since the pandemic, we have been forced to look at the choices we make in our daily lives and how this affects those around us, but it’s essential to look at what makes us happy and content within our homes and our minds.

Reassessing our home environments is now more critical than ever. As a Professional Declutterer and Organiser, I can play a crucial role in helping to influence the choices my clients make around how their homes serve them.

National Organising Week is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness, drive conversation around this topic and inspire my clients, communities, and society as a whole to take action.

Our homes are where we spend most of our time now, and making positive and impactful choices in how we set up, organise, and maintain our homes will go a long way in helping to reduce adverse mental health and unwanted stress.
