Introduction – Social Media, Minimalism and Decluttering
I have been dabbling with Minimalism and decluttering techniques since well before the pandemic. I run my own organising business, Life Organised, and over the years, I have tried to learn as much as possible about organising one’s life and possessions. Partly out of personal interest, and partly to better serve my clients and offer the best possible service tailored to their individual needs.
It goes without saying that not everyone is as well-versed in these areas or can afford to hire a professional like me. Some people, though, are keen to learn more, whether they wish to become fully fledged minimalists or desire to declutter some of their excess to have a calmer home.
In the article below, I would like to introduce my readers to some social media groups and accounts that have helped me learn about Minimalism and decluttering and engage with like-minded people. I will include some beginner-friendly spaces that I no longer frequent, as well as some with more advanced content. Whether you’re on Facebook or Instagram, there will be something of interest for everyone.

APDO, The Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers, is the UK’s membership association for decluttering and organising professionals. APDO sets standards, provides professional development and supports the growth of the industry.
You can follow them on Facebook, where their public page offers not only advice to aspiring organisers but also general decluttering tips for anyone else.
APDO is also on Instagram, where they tend to post similar content. Choose the platform that best suits your needs.
Extreme Minimalism – The Next Level and Beyond
This group is designed for individuals who already practice Minimalism. In their own words, they define the group as follows:
This is the minimalism group where the other established minimalists come to for inspiration and advice, or simply to share what they have discovered along their own journey.
Extreme Minimalism – The Next Level and Beyond is a group for people who practice Extreme Minimalism, and this is reflected in its content. You will not find anything related to general Minimalism here.
From Minimalism To Extreme Minimalism
Unlike Extreme Minimalism: The Next Level and Beyond, this group is designed for anyone who aspires to become an extreme minimalist but isn’t quite there yet.
In this group, members share their journey into extreme Minimalism and ask questions. Unlike some other groups, they also host monthly group chats on topics such as living with kids, eco-friendly living, and more.
The group pretty much is what it says on the tin: a group for anyone practising Minimalism.
A group for anyone practicing practical Minimalism. No quotas, no strict rules, no living without. Just people making deliberate choices to live a simpler life. We focus on simplifying while keeping the process realistic, with a focus on sustainable and environmentally conscious actions.
In addition to Minimalism and simple living, they also focus on content relating to a more eco-conscious life.
Clean, Declutter, Organise Your Home UK
Group to share tips on making your home into a beautiful place that you want to spend time in. Support, chat with and make friends with like-minded people.
Probably the most general help and advice group among all those I have mentioned. People ask questions about how to remove stains from carpets or how to store their tins in the kitchen.

This is the Instagram profile of one of my organising colleagues from Lancashire. On her Instagram profile, Rachel shares some invaluable decluttering tips in bite-sized chunks rather than just beautiful photos.
Crafting a simpler life with less
This Instagram profile is less about offering tips on achieving Minimalism or decluttering and more about presenting beautiful, artistic photos that feature a minimalist theme. Lovely to look at.
Another Instagram account with tips and inspirational quotes on Minimalism. While not the most aesthetically pleasing, it is a good one to follow for daily tips and quotes.

I have featured YouTuber Laura from How to Get Your Shit Together elsewhere on this blog. This is her Twitter account that complements her YouTube Channel. As in her YouTube videos, she offers some good, practical decluttering tips with a touch of humour.
This is the Twitter account of Leo Babauta, founder of Zen Habits, who discusses and shares content related to simple living, Zen habits, and Minimalism—some interesting and thoughtful content for people who want to delve deeper than just decluttering.

A board for anyone interested in how to reduce consumption, repair things and learn what overconsumption does to our planet.
Not the most active board, but good to follow for anyone who wants to learn more or delve deeper into Extreme Minimalism.
Want to ask questions or learn from others about Minimalism? This is your board.
I haven’t covered Simple Living much on this blog for several reasons. Partly because I am still unclear about my attitude towards it, and partly because I am still learning. Might see some of my readers on this board.
Conclusion – Social Media, Minimalism and Decluttering
There are, of course, many, many more people to follow and groups to join, but the above are some that I have found helpful. As I mentioned in the introduction, I have been engaging with Minimalism, organising, and decluttering for many years, and I don’t spend much time on social media. While starting out, however, learning online and from others on social media can be helpful.
